Awesome Last Minute Halloween Costumes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bryant chapter.

Wait what? It’s Halloween already? If you’re like some of us at Her Campus, you didn’t even realize that the end of October was fast approaching, and one of college’s favorite holidays is here. By the time you’re reading this, the local Party City and Spirit of Halloween stores have already been ransacked by those willing to pay $50 for a bunny costume but don’t worry, Her Campus is here to help! Here are 15 of the best last minute (and we’re talking seriously last minute) Halloween costumes that you can easily recreate using clothes from your (or your roommate’s) closet!

  1. Frat Boy

If you find yourself down at frats every weekend it’s about time you made yourself an honorary brother. This outfit is pretty self-explanatory: khaki shorts, a button down shirt, a Ralph Lauren Polo hat, some Sperrys and Nike socks and you’re good to go!

  1. Alien

This costume is out of this world (sorry, we had to). But seriously, this look is so creative and fun! All you need for this look is a brightly colored (or metallic) dress, or some fun galaxy printed leggings, pair it with some galactic makeup and you’re set. Don’t be afraid to throw on some antennas or put your hair up into some space buns to complete this look.

  1. Greek Goddess

You might not find this look in your closet but you’ll certainly find it on your bed! It’s a classic college move to turn your bed sheet into a toga, but you can dress this costume up with a pair of strappy sandals and some gold makeup – you’ll definitely look like a goddess in this look.

  1. Netflix and Chill

This is a fun look to do with your BFF! Just take some oversized red and blue t-shirts, and use Sharpies (or if you’re feeling crafty you can buy fabric paint) to write in your “Netflix” and “Chill” logos. If you don’t want to ruin a shirt you already own, opt for stickers to spell out your respective logos.

  1. Audrey Hepburn in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”

This is for the classiest of girls! Put that little black dress to good use (we know you have a couple lying around) paired with some pearls, and BOOM, you’re basically Holly Golightly! Don’t be afraid to dress this look up even more with a hairpiece like Audrey’s, and some heels if you’re feeling up to that challenge all night!

  1. Lady Liberty

Show your patriotism this Halloween by being the sexiest statue on campus. Put your cute mint-green summer dress to good use this fall, along with whatever shoes you want, to make yourself into the Statue of Liberty. While you probably don’t have Lady Liberty’s crown lying around somewhere in your dorm (unless you do…) you can easily DIY this headpiece (Pinterest ladies!) or buy one off of amazon (HELLO we get student Prime accounts for emergencies like this).

  1. Alcohol

You know how they say you are what you eat, well this Halloween you are what you drink too! Grab your favorite booze inspired t-shirt and pair it with spandex and some converse and you’re instantly transformed into your drink of choice! If you don’t have a t-shirt don’t fear, you can always create a top using the cardboard box your favorite beer came in. You’ll have to do a little DIY but you’ll look just as good!

  1. Cowgirl

Save a horse ride a cowboy this Halloween ladies! This costume is so easy, just wear a flannel (which we all know you have tons of), jean shorts, boots and a cowboy hat! We know what you’re thinking- you don’t have a cowboy hat/boots. You can substitute a cowboy hat for a bandana, and the boots for white converse. Not a total cowgirl, but we promise you’ll still look cute.

  1. Vampire

This costume is probably the easiest of the bunch, because all you need is an entirely black outfit and just some solid makeup skills. You can wear virtually anything: black dress, black skirt and top, or even black jeans and crop top! There’s millions of YouTube tutorials on how to achieve a vampire inspired look, so you can pick and choose your favorite and follow along with the steps of the video, and trust us, you’ll be hotter than all the girls in Twilight.

  1. Tourist

The tackier the better for this costume! Wear your favorite Hawaiian shirt with a pair of shorts, and adorn it with any of the following accessories: bucket hat, lei, fanny pack (which by the way, are very convenient), camera, canteen water bottle, and/ or sunglasses. If you want to put this look over the edge, be sure to carry around a campus map and ask people all night where all the good parties are located!

  1. School girl

Finally, a time and place to wear your mom’s plaid skirt from the 90’s! Pair your skirt with a button up shirt, a tie, knee high socks and booties! You could also do this look with a friend and be Serena Van Der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf, aka the REAL most iconic duo.

  1. Groupie

Another easy costume is dressing up as a groupie for your favorite rock band! All you need for this is a band-tee, some spandex, knee high fishnets and some converse, and the best part is what you do with your hair and makeup! Take hints from these girls with their kiss makeup, or create looks of your own for another band!

  1. Robber

As a broke college student, you probably would have resorted to robbing a bank anyways so why not dress the part for Halloween! All you need to complete this costume is a striped shirt, either black shorts or black jeans, and a cute pair of black booties. Don’t forget to pair this look with a black beanie, a black mask, and a pillow case as a money sack!

  1. Athlete

This is perfect for the sporty girl, or the girl who literally owns no jerseys but has guy friends that will let her borrow one. Wear any sort of jersey, baseball, basketball, football, soccer, or hockey. Literally come out wearing a water polo jersey, we don’t care, it all works! Wear some spandex, Nike socks, and Converse and you’ve got yourself a complete costume! Don’t forget to put some eye black under your eyes for the full effect.

  1. Britney Spears

Oops, Her Campus did it again and came up with another great costume for you to wear last minute! Sport this classic Britney outfit with a gray cardigan, white button up shirt (with a cute bralette underneath), a black skater skirt and some high knee socks, plus the iconic braided pigtails! You should rock this costume on Halloween for the sole purpose of saying “It’s Britney bitch!” every time someone asks who you are!

And there you have it, the 15 best last minute Halloween costumes we at Her Campus have to offer. We hope this list inspires you to have a killer costume this year, and remember to party hard and stay safe on this year’s Halloweekend.
