5 Ways to Stay Motivated

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bryant chapter.

It’s safe to say once the warm weather comes in, our attention span goes out.  Sitting through a 50 minute Monday/Wednesday/Friday class feels more like 75 minute Tuesday/Thursday class.  Going to the gym turns into playing kan jam outside.  And lastly, concentrating in the library turns into staring out the window and watching the clouds pass under the sun.  How is a collegiette supposed to stay motivated through the 74 degree sunny weather?  How is a collegiette supposed to continue the daily gym workout?  How is a collegiette supposed to put their best effort into every last paper and project?  Don’t even worry about figuring out the answer.  We’ve got it here.  Here are 5 ways to stay motivated through the rest of the semester, despite the beautiful weather!

  1. Make a list Every morning, or week, make a list of the things you absolutely need to get done.  From there, put a time stamp on it!  By scheduling everything you absolutely need to get done like studying for an exam, analyzing a case, or meeting with a professor, you will be more apt to do these things.  Making a list and checking off tasks as you complete them will make you feel empowered over your own work and of course productive.
  2. Make quantitative goals. By setting a quantitative goal, it is easier to measure your success throughout the end of the semester.  Say you want to knock off a few pounds, by saying “I want to lose five pounds”, you are able to measure that accurately.  By saying, “I want to lose some weight”, there is so much room for you to make excuses and become unmotivated.
  3. Stay involved.  Stay involved with all of your responsibilities!  If your on-campus job is dying down, ask your boss for little jobs to keep your busy until the end.  This will show your boss you are a valued employee, you want to be there, and you have good work ethic.
  4. Think of summer as your reward.  Don’t lose sight at what is ahead.  How much better will your summer be if you get there with flying colors?  Enough said.
  5. Start new things.  Sunday April 23rd, Bryant’s Running Club and the Grad School are hosting a Spring into Spring 5K Race!  Registration is free and it takes place in the morning so you still have the entire day to enjoy!  By starting new things and finding new commitments, you have more things to look forward too…you have no choice but to stay motivated!
