Although Spring Break 2013 has come to an end and we are back on the
grind, there is no reason to be blue! As I mentioned a few weeks ago, it’s time for spring celebration! We can finally put away our winter jackets as the sun is showing its face a bit more around campus. Spring has arrived and I’m ready to put away anything that reminds me of blizzards, black ice, or below freezing. In a continued celebration of the arrival of this lovely season, it’s time to talk about new and improved outfits. When one thinks of spring, the easiest things to reach for are floral patterns and bright colors. But, there are tons of other ways to incorporate this trend into a lively, festive but also redefined look.

Instead of focusing on adding brilliant hues to your top half, focusing on highlighting your legs and feet. A patterned pant is the perfect way to achieve this look. There is an abundance of pattern pants in stores these days as well! You liven up your wardrobe with a patterned legging paired under a simple dress or over a longer top. There are patterned pants are at H&M for only $12.95! They also have a collection of other patterns for a bit more money. But, overall, definitely not a bad deal! Another pair of my favorite pants are from Forever 21. They are only $19.80 and bring a delicate but spring-y vibe to your outfit. Side note! Another way to diversify your pants game is to switch up the length. I love rolling my longer pants to create a cuff at the bottom so I can show off some cute shoes.

Speaking of shoes, switching from boots to a flat or sandal is an obvious way to greet the sunshine. But, if you want to try something new this season, reach for some wedge sneakers. These shoes are a perfect combination of comfort and style, and they definitely make a statement! The best part is that wedge sneakers come in all shapes and patterns for some pretty awesome prices. Wedge sneakers really stand out when paired with some skinny jeans or even with a maxi skirt. These tie-dye wedge sneakers are selling for around $60 dollars sheikshoes.com. Fun fact! Beyonce rocks the wedge sneaker look in her music video for “Love on Top” as well as when running errands with her daughter, Blue Ivy.

Another original way to add a pop of color to your spring outfit is the bowtie! Bowties are usually associated with fancy events and men’s wear. But, there is no reason why we can’t include them in our wardrobes as well. The great thing about this accessory is that they come in so many sizes, colors, and patterns! This accessory is accentuated the best when paired with neutral or solid colored shirt. A more structured look can be achieved if you wear a blazer with a skinny jean. If you prefer a more retro style, you can swap the pant for a flowing skirt or high-waisted shorts. The possibilities are endless! You can find a great collection of cheap bowties on tiecoon.com.
