April 22nd is Earth Day. On this day, people all over the world show support for the environment and learn about ways to protect the earth. The first Earth Day was celebrated in 1970 in the United States. It was started by a United States senator named Gaylord Nelson. He wanted a day to teach the country more about caring for the environment. Today it is observed all over the world by billions of people!

There are so many activities and events that take place throughout the week to teach us more about Earth. What can you do at "virtual" school or in your home to celebrate this important day? How about planting a tree or a plant? Maybe your parents/loved ones could help you plant your favorite vegetable. You could also learn more about recycling or even teach others about it too!
