Practice Safe Sneeze! How Not To Get Sick This Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Brandeis chapter.

It’s flu season, collegiettes. And with classes, clubs, sports, and…ahem, a social life… there’s no time to get sick. Here’s how to stay healthy this year.

Get your flu shot- Your school nurse may even offer a free flu shot if you’re a resident. If not, you can easily get a flu shot at your doctor’s office or at a local drug store or super market. I know you hate shots, but it’s the easiest way to protect yourself from the most common flu strains this season.

Don’t share drinks- I know you’re dying to try that pink drink that your friend ordered. But if you’re friend has been sick recently, you better pass. Not only is sharing drinks an easy way to catch a cold, but it’s also one of the main ways (after kissing, that is!) that spreads mono…. and that’s one semester of hell you don’t want.

Practice safe sneeze- Don’t know the safest way to sneeze? Here, watch this informational video (it’s quick and funny, I promise.)

Sleep and hydrate- If you think it’s too late and you feel yourself starting to get sick, get some sleep and drink lots of water. You might be able to fight it off before it becomes a full-blown sickness.
