HATS, HATS, HATS

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Brandeis chapter.

Accessories are most definitely the smallest yet most effective way to spruce up an outfit. Dull outfit? Add a necklace! Or rather, since the weather is getting cooler, a scarf. But that’s just it. Everybody adds a scarf to a dull outfit.

Why not be unique?

And how do we achieve said uniqueness? Well, get a unique accessory that most people are afraid to pull off? A HAT.

Hats, contrary to popular belief, are not “hard to pull off.” In fact, you can find a hat for every head shape. Also, there are many purposes for hats—rain, snow, a bad hair day? FIXED with a cute hat.

Now, here is my list of the perfect hats to have in your wardrobe the winter 2012-2013 season:

CLOCHE HATS: Super cute, very vintage-esque, TONS of compliments. Plus, they are very practical as they help a lot during those days when it’s misting/partially raining.

FUR HATS: Feel like being warm and toasty yet totally fashion forward? Then these hats are your MUST HAVE for this season!

BERETS: Oh, the beauty of a beret. Berets are fabulous little things that can make any outfit look very chic. Plus, they look so cute on every one’s head (especially the knit ones)!

FEDORAS: Oh, the old reliable fedoras. These men’s wear inspired hats will be sure to add lots of snazz to your outfits. I recommend buying some in interesting colors or patterns in order to mix it up a little bit. You can always use a little extra “oomf” in your wardrobe.

GAUCHO HATS: My personal obsession right now, these hats are a surefire way to add a bit of glamour to your outfits. Who needs bracelets with a hat like this! (Bracelets are still nice though). If the top hat had a younger sibling, this would be it. Very cute, and very versatile.
