Danny Steinberg ’15

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Brandeis chapter.

Year: 2015

Hometown: Stoughton, Massachusetts

Major: Math

Minors: Computer Science and Physics

Her Campus: What first attracted you to Brandeis University?

Danny Steinberg: Well, I first heard about Brandeis from my brother, who went here. I visited him several of times, even stayed over a few nights, so I knew the place pretty well by the time I had to apply to college. I was looking for a place I could do math and theatre, so I knew Brandeis was the place for me.

HC: You are very involved in theater. What is the most rewarding aspect? The most challenging?

DS: The most rewarding aspect is definitely the final product. Yes, the whole process of putting on a show is amazing in itself, but seeing it all come together in the end makes it the most worthwhile, no matter whether I’m acting on the stage or designing lights for the stage. The most challenging aspect of theater is dealing with unexpected changes, whether it be technical or with the cast. But that is also what makes theater so amazing. It’s unpredictable.

HC: What else are you involved in on campus?

DS: I’m the president of Jewish Fells A Cappella, which is an all male Jewish a cappella group on campus. I’m also one of the co-coordinators of Student Production Services, which provides lights and sound for events on campus.

HC: What is your favorite memory from your time at Brandeis?

DS: That’s an easy choice. In the spring of my sophomore year, I acted in a musical called “I Love You Because.” It was not only my favorite show I’ve been a part of at Brandeis, but it went up the same weekend as the Boston bombings danger moved through Watertown. The day there was a lockdown on campus, we decided to put on our show anyway for free, so people would have something to distract themselves. We put on an amazing show despite the circumstances, and brought a little bit of happiness to everyone who came to see the show.

HS: What do you plan to do after graduation?

DS: After graduation, I plan to go back to the camp I worked at for my 7th, and possibly last, summer. I have also applied for several internships and jobs, and am currently waiting to hear back. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I am a double major in Anthropology and International/Global Studies with a minor in Creativity, the Arts, and Social Transformation at Brandeis University. As a native Southern Californian, I have a born passion for avocados and an innate dread of cold weather. In my free time I love cooking (with avocados of course), drawing and writing.
