Bri Mussman ’16

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Brandeis chapter.

Year:  2016

Major/Minor: Chemistry, South Asian Studies

Hometown: New Jersey

Single or Taken: Very Happily Taken

HerCampus: What activities are you involved with here on campus?

Bri Mussman: Well, I’m a counselor coordinator for SSIS and, photographer for the Justice, and a TA for Gen. Chem. lab.

HC: How did you become involved with SSIS?

BM: I’ve loved SSIS since day one with Orientation Presentation, and I was lucky enough to be able to give that presentation for the midyears, so I was able to come full cycle. There’s nothing I’d rather give my time to. It doesn’t really have to do with science, but there’s a way to make science human, and sexuality has to do with that. And more than anything, I like helping people.

HC: What would you say your favorite thing is about working with SSIS?

BM: My favorite part would have to be the community that it fosters. We’re always open to learning new things and we’re really involved in the community.

HC: one thing you’re excited about for summer?

BM: I’m just excited for warm weather.  I’ve grown up going to the boardwalk, so summer for me is just going to the boardwalk, getting a funnel cake, lying on the beach. Pretty much just fried food and sun.  It just makes me very happy inside.

HC: Any secret talents?

BC: Secret? I don’t know how secret things are.  I can memorize birth control facts really easily and I love painting my nails and photography

HC: That’s so cool! How’d you start becoming into nail art?

BC: I think I’ve always liked the idea of art and painting, but I’ve never been good at that.  I started when two years ago I followed a tutorial online. It really helps me de-stress. Once I got to college I would set aside that time every week.  It’s very calming. I wish I had the free time now!

HC: And photography? How’d you get into that?

BC: Ever since I was little, I was always taking pictures with a disposable camera or film.  In high school I took a film photography class at Rutgers by my house. There’s something cathartic and individual about it, you get to capture something exactly the way you see it.

I am a double major in Anthropology and International/Global Studies with a minor in Creativity, the Arts, and Social Transformation at Brandeis University. As a native Southern Californian, I have a born passion for avocados and an innate dread of cold weather. In my free time I love cooking (with avocados of course), drawing and writing.
Andrea is a sociology major with minors in journalism and women's and gender studies. She is currently finishing her senior year at Brandeis University. She was born and reared in Los Angeles, CA, which does mean that she is a die-hard Laker fan… Sorry Bostonians. When Andrea is not routing on her favorite basketball team, she dedicates her time to her many passions. They include reading and writing about fashion, traveling, exploring new restaurants, spending time with friends, watching reality television (she has a weak spot for Bravo), shopping, and working out.
