For as long as I can remember, I’ve always loved 5 Below. It was an amazing place I would beg my mom to take me to since everything was $5 or less. This meant it was right in the budget for a child. There were toys, candy and the most random things you can possibly think of, so it was my ideal shopping location.

As I’ve gotten older, my love for 5 Below has only grown. It’s been extremely interesting for me to watch 5 Below transform into a more mature store overall. They carry name brand items and things that are genuinely useful and not as expensive. A lot of their stuff can be compared to places like Target – my other love and passion – which is odd since I’ve always viewed it as a more boujee Dollar Tree. However, that change is not unwelcomed by me. I love that it’s grown up with me.

The timing has been extremely convenient with me moving into my first college house. The amount of college decor they carry is truly mind boggling. You wouldn’t even know to look there if you hadn’t heard others talking about it. I originally found out purely from how frequently I would go to 5 Below when I would go home to my family throughout my freshman year of college. It’s right near the Target in my hometown, and I always make sure to take my sisters so we can just look at everything there. After that, I slowly started seeing more and more people on social media talking about the changes. It was a major topic on TikTok for a little while, with everyone realizing that the mini rugs they have are both cute and functional.

While I will admit, their fuzzy rugs are adorable, I quickly became a fan of their chindi rug. I wanted my room to have an earthy feel when you come into it with plants everywhere – both real and fake. I wanted it to be green. I found the perfect rug at 5 below that matched the room aesthetic perfectly. Another staple I love is their sun-catchers. They have several different designs, and I found two that were plant based designs. They go perfectly in my windows. They have the perfect throw pillows and throw blankets that matched with everything else perfectly. It was honestly so much fun to walk around different 5 Below stores and try to plan out my room.

Other than decor for your room, there are also really practical things that are nice to keep with you in your room. For example, they have Starbucks tumbler dupes that are actually really nice quality. They are relatively the same size, and come in a ton of different colors and designs. I even found some that match the green, earthy aesthetic of the rest of my room. It’s the perfect staple to sit on my desk. It’s practical and matches the rest of the room, making it the perfect decor. Along with that, they also have a ton of fake plants that are in various pots. My personal favorite is their fake plant that is in a disco ball pot. I don’t know who came up with that idea, but every time I see a plant in a disco ball I fall in love.

If you’re looking for more practical things to put around your room, they have a home office section that you can browse through on their website. A lot of the home office items can also be extremely useful for college students. They have things from memo pads to mini trash cans to organizers. Just like everything else I’ve raved about, everything they offer is still aesthetically pleasing. That means that you can fill your desk with practical items that you’ll use daily. For a fraction of the price, they’ll look cuter than items from places like Office Max. I would even argue that some of the items I’ve gotten from 5 Below are cuter than similar ones at Target.
