Halloween Costumes for Cold Weather

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Binghamton chapter.

We all know how cold Binghamton gets around Halloweentime. Some of us are brave enough to wear hardly anything on Halloween, but some of us want to stay warm and dress for the weather. How can you cover up and still look cute? It can be done, and we want to tell you how to do it.

1. Motorcycle chic: Dare to wear black and a lot of it. All you’ll need is a black shirt, black leggings or jeans, black boots, and a leather jacket. Spice up the look with some hot red lipstick, and purchase a cheap pair of fake eyelashes to really amp up the volume. You can even buy a bandana to tie around your head and make the look more authentic. So, if it snows on Halloween again this year, you’ll be all set to go in your warm and fashionable costume.

2. Nice and nerdy: The nerd costume is always in style. Pair a white button-down or plaid shirt with a pair of blue jeans. Wear Converse or the sneakers of your choice to keep your feet from hurting when you’re travelling from bar-to-bar. To complete the look, buy a pair of suspenders and chuck on some nerdy glasses. You can keep your hair down or braid it in pigtails. Now, you’re warm and ready to party as an adorable nerd.

3. ’80s loving: Time period costumes can be some of the easiest and most creative ones to work on. For this ’80s-inspired costume, buy a bright colored sweatshirt without a hood. Put on either black or colorful leggings, then make sure you wear your gym sneakers to really go with the vibe. Wear chunky jewelry with a lot of color to it. Style your hair sky-high by teasing it at the roots, and slap on a colorful headband so you’re ready to dance the night away as if it was 1980-something.

4. Rosie the Riveter: Channel this iconic character while looking cute and staying warm. Wear a denim shirt with some black pants, and put on any pair of shoes that you’re most comfortable with. Pin your hair up and tie it together with a red bandana. A red lip looks great with this costume and really makes the red bandana pop. When you’re ready to show some skin, just roll up your sleeve and make that famous muscle Rosie does in the poster.

Hopefully these warm costume ideas inspire you. Start preparing your costume now; you only have two weeks left until the big night.
