What It’s Like Working on Group Projects

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bentley chapter.

There are few things Bentley students stress about more than group projects.

You get the syllabus the first day of class and see that you’ll be forced to participate in a semester-long group project worth 30% of your grade.

On top of that, the professor will be assigning the groups.

Trying to find a time for everyone to meet is the most frustrating thing.

And there’s always one group member that wants to meet on a weekend and you’re just like…

Two weeks later, you finally have your first meeting and no one knows what to say.

Then, everyone is debating what part they want to do.

So you split up the work and head on your merry way.

Then suddenly it’s a week before the project’s due and you decide you need to meet again to put it together.

And when you get there no one has their work done.

Of course, you don’t have your part done either but that’s irrelevant.

So you all settle in for a busy week.

After a long and stressful week, you think you’re finally finished.

Until the night before when you realize one group member messed up their part and you have to redo the whole thing.

And then another group member wants to leave the meeting before the project is done.

By the end of the night you just don’t care anymore.

You hand in the project and pray for a decent grade…

You get it back and realize your group actually did well.

Maybe these group projects aren’t so bad after all.

Until next semester when you have another group project again.
