Wellness Wednesday: Eat This Not That La Cava Edition

With the semester already half over, Seasons has become the last option for most.  Only after you’re so hungry you contemplate eating not one, but two of your hands, you decide to go to Seasons. With that being said, most students enjoy going to La Cava, a huge step up and conveniently located.  I’m sure many of you are still going strong with your New Year’s Resolutions and if so you may want to take a look at what you’re grabbing for lunch. That grilled Portobello mushroom looks so tasty, but you would be surprised how many extra miles you would have to run just to burn off the onion marmalade and focaccia bread it came with! So to save yourself from eating your whole days’ worth of calories in one sitting, check out this week’s Eat This Not that: La Cava Edition! 

 

Eat This: Grilled Turkey Burger

This healthy alternative comes on a whole wheat bun, with Sodexo’sspecial” sauce, crisp lettuce and a tasty tomato! Turkey burgers are delicious and packed with plenty of protein! Along with that, this meal only contains 290 calories and 11 grams of fat!

Not That: Bacon Blue Cheese Burger

This grilled burger comes on a white bun and it’s topped with smoky bacon and melted bleu cheese. As tasty as that sounds, this burger comes in at a whopping 760 Calories and 46 grams of fat!! That is over 70 percent of your daily value!  The turkey burger is just as tasty with half the calories!

Eat This: California Roll with Wasabi

This is the classic roll for most people! The California roll is Sushi wrapped in seaweed with Surimi, Avocado, Cucumber, and a side of wasabi! The wasabi of course is option and only for those of you who enjoy a little kick. With about 6 slices, this meal comes in at 200 calories with only 2 grams a fat!! A tasty and healthy meal for any sushi lover!

Not That: Texas Sushi Dish

In this dish, steak gets marinated with a Zippy Spicy Sauce that’s grilled to perfection and then served sushi style with Mexican Rice and Salsa Verde! This dish looks amazing and tasty and different! Nothing you would ever find at Seasons. The bad news, however, is that is contains 740 calories and 39 grams of fat! Although it contains more protein than most sushi, the classic California roll is your best option!

Eat This: Chicken Prosciutto Flatbread Pizza

Chicken Prosciutto is delicious and a nice alternative to plain cheese or peperoni, but what makes this pizza great is the thin crust! This flatbread is topped with Tomato sauce, fire roasted chicken, provolone cheese, fresh sage, and prosciutto! Sometimes pizza can be too heavy and greasy on regular crust, but not this kind! With great flavor and a light crust, a piece of this will leave you feeling full (but not stuffed) and satisfied! With only 270 calories this is the perfect way to satisfy your pizza craving without over indulging!

Not That: Mac & Cheese Pizza

Now this sounds like a great combination, macaroni and cheese plus pizza must be heavenly, but with all that cheese and a thick crust, this wonderful pizza is actually quite dreadful! Eating a piece of this will cause you 590 calories and 19 grams of fat!! That’s double than the chicken prosciutto flatbread!
