Stephanie’s Pinterest Picks of the Week: Valentine’s Day Edition

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bentley chapter.

Happy Valentine’s Day, collegiettes! Now, I will be the first to admit that I haven’t always loved this holiday as much as I do now, but I have overcome my fear of a chocolate coma and have embraced the holiday for what it really is: a great opportunity to show the people you love how much they mean to you (and an excuse to eat great Valentine’s-themed treats!). So whether you are celebrating February 14th with a fancy dinner date or a movie night with the girls, there is a Valentine’s Day Pin for everyone.

First up this week are DIY Scratch-Off Valentine Cards from Pat and Lindsay. The blog outlines step-by-step instructions for you to make your very own scratch-off cards for your Valentine. These cards are an adorable way to add a personal touch to your Valentine’s Day cards and it couldn’t be easier—just crayon, paint and soap creates your personal scratch-off cards. The blog even offers free printables to help get your creativity flowing!

Nails are a great way to show off your Valentine’s Day love. The first nail design comes from Jenna Beth. She shows how to do a twist on the classic pink and red manicure. Her Valentine/Chevron/Ombre nails are a perfect way to use the classic holiday colors. Scared of nail art? Don’t be—especially not with this style. Using paper reinforcement stickers makes this design easy and adorable!

Looking for a more pastel way to show your love? Try these candy-heart inspired nails from Blog Lovin’/Fashion Fierce. This style is a great way to use any pastel color you have tucked away for spring/summer. Using a matte top coat makes these nails look just the like conversation hearts that we always loved getting in our school Valentine’s Day boxes. You can change the words to your favorite candy heart sayings. Be my Valentine? Call me maybe?

There is no other holiday with a better excuse to eat heart-shaped foods. These two treats are perfect for any celebration or afternoon snack on Valentine’s Day.

These Conversation Heart Cheesecakes from Hungry Happenings would make a great gift for anyone or any Valentine’s party. You can choose the colors and the phrases which make for a cute and personalized dessert!

Looking for a healthier love-themed snack?  Try My Fruity Valentine from Life in Wonderland. All you need for this is a heart-shaped cookie cutter and your favorite fruit. The blog also provides a candy fix with chocolate-dipped X and O fruit pieces!

Did someone say red velvet? What a perfect day to devour all the chocolate deliciousness that comes with red velvet anything. My two favorites this Valentine’s Day: Brownies and puppy chow.

These Red Velvet Brownies come from the Newlyweds blog. These brownies get their red color from food coloring and surprisingly, the cocoa powder doesn’t dilute the color and still gives the brownies the chocolately flavor we all love.

The recipe for Red Velvet Puppy Chow comes from Your Cup of Cake. This indulgent treat only requires melted chocolate, powdered sugar and cake mix—could it get any easier? This yummy snack mix is sure to be a winner with anyone you share Valentine’s Day with!

Still not loving Valentine’s Day? How about Grumpy Cat or men in suits? Well, collegiettes, I love both.

First, the cat who won over all of our hearts with his grumpy look and perfect frowning expression. This Grumpy Cat Valentine Gift Box of 4 Cookies is available on Etsy from Whipped Bake Shop.

And now, for our favorite grown-up child star, Matthew Lewis. His photo is just one of the 36 photos of men in suits from an article on The Berry who gifts us with some great eye candy.

So whatever you do for your Valentine’s Day, don’t forget to show the people you care about how much you love them—and don’t forget to indulge in some sweet treats!
