Goodbye Winter, Hello Paradise

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bentley chapter.

Does winter weather just bum you out? Wish you could be in some tropical place all year round?

Don’t fear –  here are some easy tips to pretend you are in paradise, even if it is a Winter Wonderland outside.

1) Tanning

Now, I know what you are thinking. But seeing your body tanned actually triggers the brain into thinking it is still warm sunny weather.

**CAUTION** Excessive tanning can cause severe types of skin cancer and should be done lightly if you choose to do so! There are alternative modes of tanning your skin as well including spray tanning and different lotions that over time tint your skin a nice healthy glow!

2) Take advantage of the sun!

I know it may seem impossible to believe, but even in the dead of winter there are still times when the sun is shining as bright as possible! Take advantage of that! Go for a walk, or sit out on a tube or sled and just soak in all the Vitamin D your body could ever want! You will be surprised how much color you get too!

3) Get a pedicure!

Similarly to the tanning idea, getting your nails done helps your body pretend it is warmer. You always want your feet sandal-ready in the summertime, why not make the winter the same way!

4) Drink tea!

This one sounds weird, but I promise it works! During the summertime, my mother always makes us sun-tea. You fill a pitcher with colder water and dump 6+ tea bags into it and just let it sit in the sun until it is steeped. In winter, make some tea (preferably plain, but definitely add flavors like raspberry or strawberry) let it steep, and then let it get to room temperature or colder. Once it is at the proper temperature, sit down with your freshly done nails and enjoy!

5) Just think positive!

I know winter can be a huge bummer, but just stay positive! Before you know it the warmer weather will be back and you won’t have to pretend anymore.

Use these tips or anything else you can think of to trick your body into thinking it is warmer! Beat the cold and winter will seem a lot better!
