“Conscious Capitalism”: A Bentley Leadership Society Event

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bentley chapter.

Looking for a great event on campus that is not only educational, but applicable to your life outside of Bentley? Are you trying to find ways to connect with Bentley Professors by learning more about their personal passions? Well, you’re in luck because Bentley Leadership Society is hosting an event this Monday night that you won’t want to miss!

Professor Raj Sisodia of Bentley’s own Marketing Department will be appearing this Monday, November 21st at 7:30pm in BackBay Room C to speak to students about his own research and initiative – Conscious Capitalism. Professor Sisodia is a founding member of the Conscious Capitalism movement and a Chairman of the Conscious Capitalism Institute. Amongst many honors, Professor Sisodia has been recognized with the Award for Excellence in Scholarship as well as the Innovation in Teaching Award here at Bentley University and has been cited as one of the “50 Leading Marketing Thinkers” by the UK-based Chartered Institute of Marketing. As if that isn’t enough, he has also collaborated with two others to write the book Firms of Endearment: How World Class Companies Profit from Passion & Purpose and over 100 of his own academic articles that have been recognized by organizations such as Amazon.com and published in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Fortune, and many more (no joke if you ask me!).

As far as his presentation is concerned, Professor Sisodia will be speaking on Monday about Conscious Capitalism and for those of you who do not know about this topic, it is one that is assuredly sweeping the nation. We all know of the issues that arise with corporations – they are only concerned about their bottom line, they will do anything to maximize that bottom line, and they tend to put the longevity of the environment in jeopardy by diminishing the resources of our planet. What Conscious Capitalism works to prove is that it doesn’t have to be this way… that corporations can do well for themselves and the environment simultaneously. The four essential elements of this initiative are Higher Purpose, Stakeholder Alignment, Conscious Leadership, and Conscious Cultures and with the implementation of these four components, corporations around the globe will be able to notice extraordinary financial benefits, all while leaving a positive impact on the society in which they are a part.

This is going to be a great event that you won’t want to miss, so make sure you join Bentley Leadership Society this Monday, November 21st at 7:30pm in BackBay Room C!
