5 Apps Your iPhone is Incomplete Without

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bentley chapter.

This afternoon, my professor, hoping to do a demonstration, asked the class who had an iPhone he could borrow. To his surprise, nearly the entire class raised their hands. These devices are commonplace to university students, who have grown up in this age of technology. Though iPhones and all of their capabilities are a part of our daily lives, we are constantly searching for changes that will make our phones more productive and useful. These five apps are essential to my phone and the experiences it adds to my daily life. Try them out for yourself!

Dropbox

Tired of carrying a USB drive in your backpack so you can always be ready to transport files? Dropbox has found an easy solution! With this app and a simple-to-create Dropbox username and password, any file you save to the Dropbox file on your computer or upload to your Dropbox.com account can appear on your iPhone as well. I love uploading study guides to Dropbox- now I can easily study while working out!

iHeart Radio

Upon entering college, my bedroom radio and car radio were left behind. Despite this travesty, the App Store has a solution for this deprivation of my typical radio sources. iHeart Radio lets you listen to any radio station you could possibly think of. You can like or dislike songs to give DJs feedback, create custom stations, view artist bios, and set your alarm to be a particular station. Radio is now in the palm of your hand!

MapMyRun

While running on the treadmill gives an abundance of information for any runner, taking it to the streets on outdoor trails leaves runners without an accurate account of such statistics. MapMyRun is a simple solution to this dilemma. At the beginning of your run, simply click record, and this app will monitor the distance of your run, your time, your pace, where you ran using Google Maps, how many calories burned, and your splits. After each mile, the MapMyRun voiceover pauses your music to tell you how much time has passed to keep you on pace. Working on keeping and decreasing your pace with each run is made easier with this app.

Photosynth

Microsoft has created a new app that enhances the iPhone’s current camera and further likens it to a digital camera. With this app, you can point the camera anywhere you chose, and each of the images the camera reads will be stitched together when you click finish. Share these panoramas on any social media site you chose!

Temple Run 2

On a less serious note, though our iPhones are inherently useful for productivity, playing games is an unforgettable aspect of this device. We can all admit to our intense Temple Run addictions when the app first surfaced last year, but Imangi Studios has taken the game to another level with Temple Run 2. Instead of being chased by a group of zombie-like creatures, our friend is now being chased by a large animal on his quest to collect coins. Jump over waterfalls and slide under fire to run as far as you can on this awesome twist on the original version.

Even though new apps are created every day, these five are incomparable, and ones that your phone is truly incomplete without. Get over to the App Store today to explore these and other useful apps!
