Hello. I’m Victoria. And I’m a Serial Outfit Repeater.

A list of thoughts that go through my head every time I put on Literally the Exact Same Outfit:

  • It’s college and most of us are away from home, so by necessity we have to repeat outfits so nobody can say anything.
  • Who pays attention to other people’s outfits anyway?
  • I wore this last to a TR class and it’s a MWF class, or vice versa, so as long as I don’t see anybody from the wrong day, it’ll be okay.
  • If it looks good on me, why should I bother trying to come up with a new outfit? Why fix it if it isn’t fashionably broken?
  • I’m here in class and I’m not nude (something I’m sure is banned by Belmont, though perhaps not explicitly) so I should get full points on good faith.
  • I pay to be here so who cares what I look like or if I wore this exact same outfit last week?
  • If I wear different shoes/earrings/lipstick/jacket then nobody will notice for sure.
  • I’m here to learn, not to walk the runway.
  • I’m sitting down for the majority of this class period, so nobody can see half of my outfit.

Honestly, though, repeating outfits is one of those things you feel, but nobody else notices. If you’re repeating an outfit today, I promise you, probably nobody else remembers what you wore last time you were in class. And everyone’s probably worrying about their own problems and whether or not you’re noticing their repeated outfit. Let’s just agree to be forgiving of each other.
