Take a Break and Smile

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Let’s face it – finals are stressful, all-consuming monsters that cause even the most optimistic Collegiette to turn into a complaining and cheerless pessimist.  Between cramming for exams, focusing on acing a group presentation, or attempting to write a fabulously coherent research paper, who has time to smile?  I’m here to let you know that sometimes you need to take a break.  In fact, a break might just help you to become more productive and efficient in doing your work.

So when your head starts to hurt, your focus dissipates, and your mental capacity for anything intellectual has been exhausted, take a deep breath and find your happy place. Don’t be afraid to relax and let your worries disappear.  You’ll feel better, I promise, and just because you took a 5-minute break doesn’t mean your academic career has gone down the drain.  Sit back, relax, and enjoy these lighthearted and happy distractions courtesy of HC BC.

  • We can all agree that animals are undoubtedly adorable, especially the babies.  Even the ugliest creatures become cute in baby form (think hippos, elephants, possums).  If you want to spend your break with some furry friends, then check out Attack of the Cute, Cute Overload, and Cute Roulette.
  • If clearing your head is how you want to spend your study break, test yourself by taking the relaxation challenge.  It’s hard, but the tropical image accompanied by the sound of crashing waves makes it totally worth it.
  • By now, we have all heard of How Do I Put This Gently.  But hey, it is absolutely hilarious and sure to brighten your day.
  • I am a Disney fanatic, so I can’t tell you how happy I was when my friend showed me That Disney GIF.  It is along the same lines as How Do I Put This Gently, but with Disney princesses acting out college girl scenarios.  Trust me when I say that it is simply fantastic.
  • This can make even the worst day seem like a walk in the park.  If you haven’t seen witnessed the greatness of “13 Steps to Get You Through a Rough Day,” then use this as a study break as it is sure to elicit laughter, uncontrollable smiling, and completely infectious happiness.
  • We all need some visual stimulation from time to time, so let these HC BC Pinterest-finds add some sparkle to your day:
