Morgan Gibbons: Making Change with Success Schools

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

This summer, Morgan Gibbons is dedicating her time to a non-paid internship in North Philadelphia with Success Schools. Every day she tries to create programs and opportunities for students in Philadelphia who have behavioral issues or have been deemed non-compatible to be in their regular school environment.

As a student at Boston College majoring in Psychology with a minor in General Education, Morgan hopes to become a Guidance Counselor or do Crisis Counseling. While planning, her summer, she felt that working with the Success Schools was the perfect opportunity. Her environment is not safe and the dynamic is volatile each day, but she knows that she is providing a redefined sense of purpose and a renewed level of hope for each child’s future. She works with a team to enact effective policies and procedures, and to implement innovative programs and initiatives that meet district requirements, yield parental satisfaction, and produce positive student outcomes.
