Fall TV: The Newest Hits Collegiettes Will Love

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Having been in TV withdrawal all summer (no cable in my apartment means Netflix, all day, every day), I became super excited at the idea of being able to watch all of the new shows scheduled for the fall semester.  So I rounded up a few that I thought were worth mentioning from all different genres and channels.

Charlie’s Angels
Drama- Premieres September 22 on ABC
A remake like no other is predicted for this fall, with entirely new angels (played by Minka Kelly, Rachael Taylor, and Annie Ilonzeh) and a dose of good, old-fashioned kick-butt-women.

American Horror Story
Horror Drama- Premieres October 5 on FX
Although I’m not one for horror movies or shows of any kind, this one actually caught my attention due to the reaction it’s been getting from critics — TV.com says it includes “grotesque and demented imagery and bizarre plotting.”  The storyline follows two parents that have moved from Boston to California with their teenage daughter.  From there, the plot twists and turns in all directions.  On a separate note, it comes from the co-creator of Glee… so how bad could it really be?  It looks like we’ll have to wait until October 5 to find out.

Angry Boys
Comedy- Premieres December 5 on HBO
Considering my love (obsession might be a better word) with Summer Heights High, this is by far the show I’m most excited for this fall.  Mastermind Australian Chris Lilley returns with a new mockumentary series, where he plays a surfer, a Japanese mom, and an American rapper, all in the same series.  Politically correct is an understatement when it comes to Lilley’s humor, and I love every minute of it.  December cannot come soon enough.

Ringer
Teen Drama- Premieres September 13 on the CW
If you love Gossip Girl or Pretty Little Liars, then you’ll fall in love with Ringer, a new show about a woman (Sarah Michelle Gellar) who switches places with her twin to escape being chased by the mob.  I know this is one that will make my roommates borderline obsessed.

The X Factor
Reality- Premieres September 21 on Fox
As you’ve probably heard already, the hit British singing competition is coming to the US this fall.  You might think, “another singing show, really?”, but this one is going to become a fan favorite.  Reuniting Paula and Simon as judges could go in a million different directions.  Needless to say, I definitely won’t be missing it.

Hell on Wheels
Historical Drama- Premieres November 6 on AMC
I’ll be real… I LOVE a good historical series.  Those who are fans of Boardwalk Empire, Band of Brothers, or really anything on the History Channel (guilty) will love this new Western set in the 1860’s about a former Confederate soldier seeking revenge against the man who killed his wife.  War, revenge, and murder in the American West?  Yes please!
