Easy and Cheap DIY Halloween Costumes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

If you’re like me this Halloween and have no money, no time, and no energy to make a costume, then read on!

Thanks to people in the world who are way more creative than me, there is an abundance of great Halloween costume ideas that are not only really cute but can also be made for super cheap with stuff that you probably already own!

Example #1: Victoria’s Secret Angel

Ok, I know you already own a cute bra and spandex shorts, so this part is covered.   All you need is a cheap silk robe and some angel wings from the party store and you’re ready to go!

Example #2: Margarita (Group costume)

Who wouldn’t want to dress up like everybody’s favorite Friday night mistake? This one is also super cheap because you can wear clothes that you already have as long as they’re the right colors! All you have to do is use colored paper to make the signs!

Example #3: Boxers

I love this one because you get to look great while also being in a super comfy sports bra and athletic shorts (which you probably already own). Just throw on a robe, put your hair in some braids, find some gloves and you’re set!

Example #4: The Cheetah Girls (Group costume)

Ok, who wouldn’t want to be a part of a group costume this iconic? Just put on some black yoga pants (which I know you already own), coordinate hoodie colors, and put on a headband!

Example #5: Rachel Green from “Friends”

Dress up like a character from the world’s best show with only a black long sleeve shirt, a plaid skirt, and some tights! All you have to do is find an apron and print out a Central Perk sign and you’re good!

Example #6: Statue of Liberty and Uncle Sam

This costume is great for couples or even two friends! For the Statue of Liberty, if you already own anything in the color mint, just throw that on, and make a crown and torch out of colored paper! For Uncle Sam, wear anything red, white, and blue, and add a hat for an extra few dollars!

The internet is full of great ideas. If you’re still scrambling for a costume idea on October 30th or even October 31st at 6 pm, Pinterest, Facebook, and of course Her Campus have some other great ideas! Happy Halloween!
