Does Love Exist…At BC?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

By junior and senior year at Boston College, we all are pretty positive that love does not exist at Boston College. Most colleges – at least the colleges I visited – have a special place surrounded by an air of magic. “If you sit on this white bench with someone, the tradition is you get married.” (Unnamed school in Pennsylvania.) “If you kiss someone in this quad, you always get married.” (Another unnamed school in PA.) “If you walk through this arch with someone, you’re going to get married.” (Some school in New York.)

Well, Boston College doesn’t have Cupid-inspired arches or benches or quads. I did a little surveying of some BC students, and here are the places where we think love truly does exist.

1. Mary Ann’s – Is this not obvious? Mary Ann’s is a magical place where you meet your soul mate. Duh.  If you’ve never been (and are 21+ obviously), you should go. The stunning interior inspires the purest of love. Talk to a guy at MA’s and you may as well go ahead and book St. Ignatius now for the wedding.

2. The Mods – I think this one speaks for itself. The song “We Found Love (In a Hopeless Place)” was inspired by the Mods, obviously. However hopeless they may have seemed when that song came out is obviously not the case anymore. What better place to fall in love than a hot Mod filled with sweaty, sticky people, and probably lots of freshman girls who appear in packs of 20? This is a prime location to find your soul mate! Again, if you meet a guy here, book St. Ignatius immediately.

3. The Plex –The Plex is practically a breeding ground for love. It’s actually a lot like the Mods – hot, crowded, and full of sweaty people. Girls checking out guys from the ellipticals and the stair machines. Guys checking themselves out in the mirror. All you really need to know about a guy is how much weight can he bench and how attractive is he in workout clothes. What more is there to love?

4. Mac – What better place to meet “the one” than waiting in line for a Honey-Q, a flatbread, or Wok-Away? Not into that? Maybe you can share your intellectual thoughts over an absolutely delicious cup of Dean’s Beans coffee. Mmmm. Is that the scent of burnt coffee or burning love?

I bet if Beans, Creams, and Dreams were open (FYI that’s the shack outside of Lower) true love would definitely blossom there. Beans, Creams, and Dreams. Duh.

Where do you find love blossoming at Boston College? Is it lingering in awkward elevator rides in Hillside, on the Newton bus, or waiting outside in the cold during the ten million Edmonds fire drills? Let us know where true love can be found at BC!

This could be you someday if you just check out these love hot spots.
