When country music and a great cause combine, especially to support a former BC Alum, then Her Campus BC knows that this is an event that cannot be missed! At the House of Blues on Thursday September 12th, entertainment and live country music are coming together to benefit the Pete Frates #3 Fund. Country singers Joe Nicols, Chase Rice and Sam Hunt will be performing!
Country Singers Joe Nicols, Chase Rice and Sam Hunt will be rocking the night away.
This amazing night of country music is to benefit the Pete Frates #3 Fund. Pete Frates, a Beverly, MA native, was the captain and centerfielder on the Boston College Baseball team from 2004-2007. Prior to BC, he attended St. Johns Prep where he was an honor roll student and a 3 sport athlete (football, hockey and baseball). In March 2012, Pete was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). ALS is a disease of the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movement. ALS is also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Approximately 5,600 people in the U.S. are diagnosed with ALS each year and still has no cure.
Pete has been a true inspiration in battling ALS on a daily basis. His mission is to raise as much awareness as possible for ALS as well as money to help find a cure. There have been many articles and news features about Pete and his journey in the Globe, Herald, local papers, MLB.com, ESPN.com and ABC News. To find out more about Pete, you can check out the Pete Frates #3 Fund page.
