With seven games already played by our great BC hockey team, here are the top seven reasons to get excited for hockey season to be in full-swing!
1. Hockey is BC’s sport.
Whether or not hockey is your favorite sport in general or even at BC, there’s no denying that Boston College’s number one sport this year is hockey. We have an amazing group of guys on the team (and women on women’s hockey—try to make a game!), and it’s always fun to watch them play well (and win).
2. Jerry York.
Getting to watch the winningest hockey coach of all time do his thing in our own rink is pretty amazing and gives us great pride in our school and our team.
3. The cheers.
Despite the curious disappearance of some of our cheers, the energy and excitement at Boston College hockey games is unmatched—from cheers to celebrating after a goal.
4. You get to break out your jersey.
It really is the fashion hit of the season.
5. The Zamboni.
Not a single person can deny that they don’t watch the Zamboni smoothing over the ice and dream of riding on it one day.
6. The Beanpot
Tickets are hard to snag, but whether or not you can make it, the Beanpot is always exciting, fun to watch, and a great time to cheer on a team we’re so proud of.
7. The kid who dances to “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.“
Fingers crossed that the little redheaded boy dancing with his imaginary fiddle will make an appearance again this year. If not—the rest of us really have to pick up our game.
