Imagine this: when you get in the car, radios or aux cords don’t exist. Nobody pays for Spotify Premium or Apple Music, they don’t even exist. There aren’t speakers, stereos, or record players. There isn’t any music.

Even when I try my hardest, it’s almost impossible to imagine a life without music. Whether you realize it or not, music and things influenced by music are around you everyday. Life without music would be boring. No singing in the shower, no shitty duets with your best friend, and worst of all, no dance parties. Not having any dance parties sounds like a life I don’t want to live! Music affects every individual on a daily basis. I personally spend a lot of time devoted to music. Whether it’s simply listening, finding new music, or reliving throwbacks, music is a big part of my life. Below is a brief glimpse of what my playlist looks like.

Taylor Swift

No matter the album or song, I will never, ever skip over Taylor Swift when I’m on aux. Many of my friends don’t appreciate Taylor Swift. She is very mainstream which turns a lot of people away from her. No one likes to follow along with the hype, which I understand. However, I have been a Swifite for life. I can’t just stop because she’s mainstream! If you aren’t into Taylor Swift or fall into the same category as my friends, I recommend listening to some of her lesser-known cuts Most of Taylor Swift’s songs are “known,” however, her released singles and the songs played on the radio are the worst ones in my opinion! Try to dig deeper into her albums. My recommendations are All Too Well, Invisible String, or Dear John. I could go on and on but these are some good starting points to get into Taylor Swift. You won’t regret it.

Lil Peep

On the very opposite end of the spectrum from Taylor Swift is arguably my all time favorite artist: Lil Peep. I’m not going to lie, Lil Peep gets hate. Not as much as Taylor Swift since he’s no longer around (RIP PEEP), people still like to shit on his music. He’s much more of an “emo” style rapper. People who listen to Lil Peep are typically looked at as goth or depressed. Personally, I couldn’t disagree more. I listen to Peep when I’m happy, mad, sad, and everything in between. Same thing as Taylor Swift, to find the good Peep songs you might have to do a deeper dive. Lil Peep is not as popular yet still, some of his most popular songs are my least favorite. If you want to get into Lil Peep, start by listening to his songs like Nineteen, Cobain, or Ghost Boy. Also, everyone needs to watch his documentary on Netflix. You will not regret it.

Trippie Redd

I didn’t think I could be a bigger fan of Trippie Redd until I received the chance to see him live back in August. He is a goofy dude, with tats on his face and bright red hair. However, his music totally makes up for it. Trippie is a classic. Some of his most popular songs everyone knows and loves. For example, F**k Love, Taking a Walk, or Miss the Rage are on a lot of people’s playlists. Most of his lesser-known stuff isn’t even that “underground.” If you want to start listening to Trippie Redd, I would recommend starting with his old stuff. Although his new stuff is still good, his old stuff is the true Trippie.

Although three artists don’t give a very broad look into my full playlist, it’s a good place to start. If you haven’t ever really listened to these artists, I recommend each of them fully. If you aren’t into any of them, it won’t hurt my feelings just make sure you keep searching! Everyone deserves to find their favorite pump up song or even the saddest one to cry to. Music should affect your day to day life! Spend time to look for new songs, sing in the shower, sing shitty duets with your friend, and most importantly have a dance party whenever you feel like it.
