In Need of Halloween Costume Ideas?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Auburn chapter.

The month of October is a favorite among many. In Alabama, it finally starts to get cold, and it becomes time to break out the jackets and find Halloween costumes. This is one of the hardest decisions some have to make all year. You might not have any idea what you want to be.

If you’re thinking of dressing as Harley Quinn, do not put yourself in that category. Harley Quinn is expected to be one of the most popular costumes this year.

I’ve heard the idea of being a mermaid, which I think can be mastered in many ways. You can be Ariel from the Little Mermaid or use one of Kim K’s ideas of a mermaid. Don’t be afraid to put your own style to it!

You could also go as a unicorn. Not like a horse where one person is the front of the costume and another person is the back; there are ways to look cute and be something that isn’t a human. For instance, on Mean Girls when Karen dressed up as a mouse, the only thing she had on that was mouse-like was the ears.

Pick a color out of the rainbow and wear tutu or something festive. The crown is the toughest part, but Pinterest is a great place to learn how to make one.

Another great idea that has been used for years is being your favorite icon. I find these costumes the easiest because you could put on something from your closet to achieve the look. You don’t have to make anything, and if you choose the right outfit, you don’t have to buy anything either. Recently there’s been a picture on social media of a girl who dressed up as Rihanna and even Rih said the girl did her better than she did. You could copy this idea, or pick another outfit of an icon like Rihanna.

These are only a few ideas and you don’t have to use them, but they have been my personal favorites lately. If I didn’t help, I know Pinterest has a world of ideas, so get to picking, have fun and Happy Halloween!
