Making it big in today’s music industry is no easy task. New artists need talent, discipline and perseverance. More importantly, they need to bring something different to the scene. They need to stick out from the crowd. Action Item does just that.

With their first release in 2008 called “The World and I,” the New Jersey natives started their journey to inspire people through their music. “The Stronger the Love” was released in 2010 and sold 22,000 copies independently, a feat many independent artists can only dream about. After several years of hard work and determination, the boys landed an opportunity to work with Nick Jonas of The Jonas Brothers. Jonas produced their single “Learn to Fly,” which was released in August 2011 and gave Action Item radio play across the country.

Their latest release, “Resolution,” came out on New Year’s Day this past year and charted at #72 on Billboard’s Top 200. The guys have always had a pop sound, but this album introduced a more mature vibe that is clearly a result of the band’s transformation over the years. As the boys have grown up, the music has, too.

Action Item is more than just a few guys making music together though. One quick glance at any of the members’ Twitter accounts reveals the band’s passion for making music and maintaining a close relationship with fans. In 2012, the band released a documentary featuring unseen footage and personal clips. “Until It’s Over” was screened in several movie theaters across the country, while the guys invited all of their fans to join them to watch the film and their journey to success.

The guys recently announced their next adventure, Project Brave. Project Brave is a series of YouTube videos released by other artists (sometimes with the help of Action Item, sometimes without it) as they cover the band’s song “Brave.” The band hopes to spread the message of bravery and courage in a positive way through the YouTube series. In addition, a percentage of single sales of “Brave” from iTunes will benefit Stomp Out Bullying, an organization dedicated to ending bullying of all kinds.

Action Item puts out music that is both fun and refreshing for their fans. The guys tour regularly and frequently meet fans after shows because they love what they do. They have both the talent and hard work needed to make it in today’s crazy music industry, but it is their passion for making a difference and spreading messages of positivity and acceptance that makes them unique.

If you want to support the guys in Action Item, you can check out their music on iTunes and catch them in a city near you while they’re on their Resolution Tour.
