Cancelled TV Shows You Should Be Watching

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Auburn chapter.

These days, it seems as if Auburn has been cancelling classes at the drop of a hat. But all these cancellations allow us to fill our days with hours on end of binging on TV shows! There are so many things to choose from, but here are two fantastic television shows you should be watching that were also cancelled for no reason!

Arrested Development

If you’re looking for a show that will put a smile on your face, you should definitely watch “Arrested Development,” which was cancelled to make way for the reality TV show “Skating with the Stars.” The show follows a family that is used to living in the lap of luxury that has become nearly penniless, leaving them only with a car with gigantic stairs on it that used to accompany the family jet, and a shoddily built model home.

The zany cast of characters includes a magician who demands to be taken seriously, a 30 year-old son whose only occupation is doting upon his socialite mother, and a brother-in-law who decides to turn from his career as a doctor to pursue his dream of becoming an actor. The ensuing bizarre circumstances create a show riddled with dry humor and running jokes that undoubtedly make it one of the most hilarious shows I have ever seen.

Firefly

If you’re a sci-fi kind of girl like I am, you will love every second of the 14-episode long series “Firefly,” which was cancelled after one season because the ratings weren’t high enough due to the episodes airing out of order and at a bad time for people to watch.

Set in a universe where spaceships are commonplace, this group of renegade criminals traverses the universe in a ship called Serenity, battling the government and completing jobs outside of the law in order to survive in this competitive world. This fantastic series is filled to the brim with tons of action, romance, and a cast of characters that you’ll end up falling in love with. Literally.

So maybe the next time Auburn needlessly cancels school, maybe you should watch a needlessly cancelled TV show!
