Top 10 ways to get fit this February

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Arizona chapter.

Let’s be honest here, what girl has the desire to get in shape doing repetitive workouts at the Rec? I need more motivation than watching hot guys lift weights. And after a sweaty workout, I would much rather just sneak out of a hidden passage door and not have to be seen with the sweat stains and the frizzy hair. So let’s cut out all of these embarrassments and look into something fun, effective, and did I say cheap?
There are more free activities than you can imagine. I have done my fair share of research and found that most studios in Tucson give a free day or week pass to try out their workout classes.

1.        ZumbaBreak Out Studios: Come on in and get one day of free classes. The nice thing about this class is it is more than just Latin dance. This class also includes hip-hop, jazz, African-style dance, and more.
2.       Bikram Yoga (Hot Yoga): Pay for one class at Yoga Vida and the next one is on the house.  This Bikram studio is HOT. You will be sweating in this class.
3.       Kickboxing: Get a kick-ass workout at Boxing Inc.
4.       Salsa: Feel the rhythm at El Parador. This isn’t a class, but a night of live music and dancing will be a great workout in itself.
5.       Yoga: Yoga Oasis offers a fast-pace yoga session “Power Hour” daily.
6.       Tuesday Night Bike Ride: Ride around Tucson with a group of bikers every Tuesday night. Don’t forget your bike light!
7.       Capoeira (Afro-Brazilian martial arts): Capoeira Mandinga Tucson Academy supports this unique art form.
8.       Tennis: Take advantage of the free tennis courts just a few blocks from campus at Himmel Park.
9.       DancingTry some different dance styles at Shall We Dance, including Ballroom, Latin, Country/Western, and Swing.
10.   Hiking (Look around us, obviously) Sabino Canyon and Saguaro National Park offer beautiful hiking trails that will keep you climbing to get you in your best shape.
After trying out these activities, see which ones you enjoy. Bring friends and try to form a group of girls, who want to work out, get in shape, and have fun doing something new.
