A Thank You Letter to AppalCART Drivers

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at App State chapter.

Dear AppalCART drivers,

You’ve been giving Boone residents and students free transportation since 1981, which isn’t the easiest job in the world. In fact, it’s probably one of the hardest, and thankless jobs out there.

As a bus driver, you’re kind of in the realm of customer service, and that’s not always a very rewarding position.

In fact, I, an Appalachian State student, would like to take this time to tell you how much I’m thankful for what you do.

You pick up drunk students and tourists on game days, deal with rude students who are late to class, hungover students and the normal residents of Boone who ride around.

You work your hardest, despite the weather and traffic, to keep your time schedules running as smoothly and as on the dot as possible.

You brave the weather I wouldn’t drive in to make sure that thousands of people get to and from work and class on time.

You do this all without any reward for yourselves. Now, I try to say thank you every time I get on and off the bus, but sometimes I am selfish and forget to do that because I’m too stressed about a class or have just had a horrible day.

Now, my momma didn’t raise me to be ungrateful, nor did she raise me to not say “please” and “thank you” so this is my way of saying thank you for all the work you put into making my day much easier.

Please keep doing what you’re doing. You rock, even if not everyone acts like you do sometimes.

Once again thanks,

An AppalCART rider
