I’m Not Mad, That’s Just My Face

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at App State chapter.

According to Urban Dictionary, resting bitch face (RBF) is defined as “a person, usually a girl, who naturally looks mean when her face is expressionless, without meaning to.” We can’t help what our face looks like when we’re just chilling in class. We’re not mad, we promise. It’s just…our face.

If you suffer from RBF then you know all too well what it’s like.

You constantly look annoyed.

Everyone always asks, “why do you look so angry?”

You constantly have to explain to people that you’re not mad. It’s just your face.

You really don’t notice how you look until you see pictures of yourself.

And everyone around you looks so happy and you feel self-conscious.

When you go out your friends always look so happy compared to you.

You always complain that you don’t have a boyfriend but you always walk around like:

Everyone in your classes think you’re always in a bad mood.

It’s hard for you to make friends because everyone assumes you’re a bitch.

You’re really a lot nicer than your walking to class face would suggest.

Your mom is always telling you to smile in public.

And you’re really not a bitch or in a mad mood.

People are always shocked once they find out you’re actually not a bitch.

But then your face goes right back to RBF.

You are actually a nice person once people get to know you.

It’s just too much effort to look happy ALL THE TIME.

So you just stick to your ways, not giving a shit what people think.

Sorry, it’s just my face.
