1. Being reunited with our friends, we love them and we definitely missed them over the summer. Our college friends are in a category of their own.
2. Seeing the friendly women that work at the dining halls and Cascades. You know which ones I’m talking about, the ones who make everyone’s days just a little happier.
3. What place is better than Boone to once again break out the Chacos and Bean Boots?
4. Hello free gym membership. SRC, I’m coming for ya.
5. Game days at The Rock, what’s better than a little college football? Nothing. The answer is nothing.
6. Boone’s autumn is subpar to none. *Insert encouragement to take a drive on the Parkway once the leaves start to change.*
7. Having easy access to the library is actually a blessing in disguise, us collegiettes have things to do, and we’re on a mission.
8. The Watauga County Humane Society is a short drive away. Stressed? Sit yourself down in a room full of kittens.
9. Macado’s cinnamon rolls, the Black Cat or Melanie’s brunch are all within walking distance. Pick your poison.
10. Our campus is actually really awesome in that it has a Women’s Center, LGBT Center and Multicultural Center. Being in a diverse environment is one of the best things about our university.
11. Sanford Mall, the ultimate place to get homework done, work on that tan or bring out the Eno.
12. Appalachian has more than 300 clubs and organizations. There’s literally something for everyone.
13. Snow days. While you might think this is looking ahead too much, Boone had snow last year in October, so let that sink in.
14. $2 movies at I.G. Greer. PSA that September 18th-20th they are showing X-Men: Days of Future Past. I know we can all appreciate a little Hugh Jackman.
15. Knowing you’re one small, yet important part of one big Mountaineer family.
