Beating Bad Grade Depression

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at App State chapter.

As the first month of school comes to a close, things start to get a little hectic. It seems like every professor lays on the most homework and all of their tests in two weeks. It’s tough to stay afloat, especially when you’re involved in other things on campus. All of a sudden you go to look at your grades and you’re four assignments behind and down a quiz. Damn.

Before the panic sets in, remember these four really important things:

1.     You are here for a reason. You came to App to obtain a degree, get a great career that you love, and live your life to the fullest. Don’t ever forget what your dreams consist of and why they’re important to you and let that passion drive you to want to do your very best.

2.     You’re a really intelligent, beautiful and powerful person who can conquer the world if you put your mind to it. Missing a few assignments or even failing a class can’t hold you back from your potential.

3.     You have cheerleaders in your life and throughout campus. Your mom, dad, brother, sister, hell–even your roommate is there to help you and cheer you on. And don’t forget about free tutoring on campus, and the 24/5 library on campus. Use your resources!

4.     Balance is everything. Work hard and spend time studying, but always set aside some time to do things you love. Whether it’s going out to Geno’s on Thursday, or hitting the free yoga classes on campus. Always set aside some time to de-stress and just not think about school work for a while.

At the end of the day, you’re still an intelligent, ambitious, goal-oriented person, and everyone gets behind. Just remember to follow your dreams and take a breather every once in a while because everything will work itself out.
