1) Being Mary Jane:
This show stars a young, African-American talk show host who uses her show to document her work, her family, and her “absent” love life. Gabrielle Union is the star. If that name doesn’t ring a bell, think Bring It On, Think Like A Man, and Love and Basketball – AKA all classics. Critics say she is PERFECT for this role and delivers drama and comedy in a powerful, badass way. She also dives into serious issues like how society views successful African-American women.
2) The Killing:
Set in Seattle, a female FBI agent’s life is halted whenever she becomes the lead investigator for a case involving a dead girl found in the trunk of a car – a politicians car at that. She is scheldued for a flight to move in with her fiance the night of the murder but is coerced into staying to solve the case. The Killing is a mix of politics, crime, and drama that will keep you up until 2 a.m. playing episode after episode (yes, personal experiences).
3) The Following:
If you like FBI, crime, cults, and mysterious killings – this show is for you. This show follows FBI agent Ryan Hardy as he attempts to catch the leader of a cult, Joe Carroll. Joe Carroll has essentially brain washed hundreds of followers in a plot against Hardy and to be reunited with his ex-wife, Claire Matthews. You will be hooked after one episdoe and as soon as you think you know who’s good and who’s bad – the tables turn.
