Chocolate Cake in a Mug

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Amherst chapter.

With finals coming up, we know you can’t make it to Val.  Lily has us covered when it comes to in dorm makeshift recipes.  Most of the supplies are in every baker’s kitchen, so call up a friend and take a study break. (Also great for when you get home at 2am and you have a craving for something AMAZING)

Thanks Lily, we will all use this recipe well!

How to make chocolate cake in a mug.

Your favorite mug can be used for a multitude of things. Tea, pen holder, a small pot for flowers or plants, and a cake pan for when you want some dessert.

A mug, a few ingredients, and three minutes are all you need to make a delicious single-serve mug cake.

Combine the cake mix ingredients in a large mug, mix em up, microwave for about a minute, and youll have a personal-sized dessert in a zap.

Mug Cake

Serves 1

1/4 cup all purpose flour

2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1/8 teaspoon salt

5 tablespoons milk

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

In a medium bowl or mug, whisk together all dry ingredients. Whisk in the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until combined and batter is smooth. Pour batter in a 14-ounce mug. Place a paper towel over mug and microwave on high for 60 to 70 seconds.
