Thanksgiving is almost here, and collegiettes all over the country are getting excited for a long weekend full of rest, relaxation, time spent with family and friends and of course, good food! However, traveling during such a busy time always comes with challenges. Here are just a few of them!
- I go back home for Thanksgiving tomorrow…. I should really start packing.
- Wow, do I really need this much stuff for four days away?
- The answer is yes. Yes I do.
- Do I have to bring my homework with me?
- I need to get to Union Station by noon… so I’ll just leave an hour early.
- Cool. I just missed the shuttle.
- And the metro is single tracking. Awesome.
- And I have to wait 20 minutes for the next train. Great.
- Okay. I’m at Union Station. One step closer to home.
- Wait. Chipotle.
- Should I get Chipotle for lunch?
- Or Shake Shack?
- WAIT! I DON’T HAVE TIME FOR THIS.
- Someone just ran over my foot with their suitcase.
- The train track was literally announced 5 seconds ago and people are already sprinting to the track.
- People are clustered in clumps around the track door and there is no form of order and I don’t understand how this is a reasonable system.
- Why do people keep asking me what train this is? Do I look like a train station employee?
- YES! This is Track 5! Could you just look at the sign?
- Yes, the line is really this long. Please stop asking me questions!
- Okay. I’m finally on the train. Wait, what do you mean there are no seats?
- WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU’RE OVERBOOKED?
- What do you mean I’ll have to sit in the café car???
- This is fine. I’m sitting. I’m on the train. Only three more hours, and then I’m home.
- Maybe I’ll do some homework…
- Nahh, I’ll just watch Netflix.
- Anddddddd the wifi isn’t working. Great. Homework it is.
- Wow. I’m getting hungry. I can’t wait for Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow.
- And mashed potatoes.
- And stuffing.
- And cranberry sauce.
- AND MASHED POTATOES.
- Wait, now I’m even more hungry…
- I should have definitely gotten that Chipotle.
- This trip feels like it’s dragging on forever and I can’t wait to get home.
- And see my own bed.
- And my pets.
- And my family and friends.
- COME ON, TRAIN, HURRY UP.
- Okay. We’re pulling into the station.
- This trip was awful but it’s so good to see my family again!
No matter where you’re going for the long weekend, get home safe and spend a peaceful Thanksgiving with the ones you love. Have a great Thanksgiving, collegiettes!
