Send Help, Pinterest Obsessed!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at American chapter.

I’d first like to thank Pinterest for awakening my childhood dream of being a interior designer along with continuing the obsession I have all things Rachel Zoe would approve of. Ok, I have always been a “Pinterest-er” since the app released, but as of late I cannot stop Pinteresting. This is one of the most genius creations to pop out of Apple’s App Store since the Dunkin’ Donuts app. People have now become irrelevant and now it is all about the pictures. The pictures become the focal point of what could become a reality.

I have found myself using this app for more than just a space holder for passing time. Pinterest is also the perfect place to be while procrastinating in the library when there is a paper to write. Because it is so easy and accessible, this tool easily takes an amateur baker into a five star foodie within a couple of pins. Pinterest can be used for creating fashion forward outfits and discovering how to bake cupcakes that resemble Frankenstein just in time for Halloween.

The addiction starts with one board and quickly manifests into five others. In all seriousness, Pinterest has become a positive fixture of the internet today. It has a vast amount of “how-to’s” and tips (including questions to ask job interviewers!) that can be extremely helpful for day to day life. The other day I re-pined the “top go to brunch places in New York”, which is definitely an essential for any NY native to know and explore because, who does not love brunch? Nonetheless, clothing and baking are not the only important boards to investigate, as a college student it is so critical to be persistent with exercise. Fortunately, there are boards to satisfy this necessity specifically with workout plans laid out under “Heath and Fitness.”

Since the new obsession emerged I have had a small range of emotions. I have yet to decide if these emotions occur because I found a passion or if I’m just going clinically delirious from midterm season. The world may never know. Anyway, euphoria is the most common and important of the emotions because what better way to enhance my mood than finding a chandelier I just HAVE to have? I have become so involved in pinning, I almost cried real tears of rejoice when I received a message that somebody was obsessed with my Pins. This may also be a sign to slow down and reevaluate a couple things, but until then I will continue down this pin-ful road and maybe venture into inspirational quote boards.

What do politics, Spongebob, elephants, trenta sized coffees, my diary, cats, New York, and JFK all have in common? I love them.
