This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at American chapter.

It’s been two years since Rihanna graced us with new music, but last week, she released her new song called “FourFiveSeconds” which will be on her upcoming eighth album. The acoustic ballad features Kanye West with Paul McCartney playing the acoustic guitar. The song was received as a shock by many Rihanna fans because of its bold sound. The track was number one on every country’s iTunes the day after it was released.

The “FourFiveSeconds” music video was released on Tuesday on YouTube Vevo. The music video directed by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin is a simple, black and white video emphasizing the message of the track rather than plot. In the video, Rihanna and Kanye are belting out the powerful lyrics while Paul strums on his acoustic guitar. All three artists wore denim. “Kanye came up with the idea of just doing some real street, denim, all American type look,” said Rihanna.

“FourFiveSeconds” is Rihanna’s new song under her own music imprint, Westbury Road Entertainment. Westbury Road is the street Rihanna grew up on in Barbados.

Rihanna, Kanye, and Paul performed it at the Grammy’s for the first time live. The song will be on Rihanna and Kanye’s upcoming albums. Kanye dropped the bomb on the Grammy’s red carpet that he’s executive producing Rihanna’s new album!  Just this week, Rihanna scored her 26th top 10 hit single with “FourFiveSeconds”. Make sure to buy the song on iTunes.
