Tired of Chef Geoff’s, Cava and Starbucks? There’s no weekend track work on the metro until April 13, so make the most of spring and escape Tenleytown.
1. Reebok Fithub
You can do a lot more than pick up a pair of kicks at the Georgetown Reebok store. Nestled on Wisconsin Ave, the Reebok “Fithub” is a traditional store, but also offers a whole host of free classes to get you moving. Check out the store schedule for the newest offerings.
2. Mimosa Salon
Mimosa offers all the services you need—waxing, pedicures/manicures, haircuts, and the works. However, for those 21 and over, every service comes with bottomless mimosas! Happy hour runs from Monday-Wednesday from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM, so you can great deals like a $25 gel manicure all day.
3. Firefly Restaurant
This environmentally friendly restaurant in DuPont is open for breakfast, lunch, brunch, and dinner. Delicious favorites like “Pop Pop’s French Toast” put a spin on breakfast favorites (French toast) by preparing them in a fresh way (using challah bread). The gigantic “firefly tree” stretches from ceiling to floor, letting you brunch in style.
4. Kahlil Gibran Memorial Garden
You’ve probably passed by this park on the N4 bus, or on your way to Dupont, but probably haven’t taken the time to look around. Now that spring is here to stay, spend a sunny Saturday at the park that honors Lebanese poet Kahlil Gibran. Check out the star-shaped fountain, and take trails that lead all the way to Rock Creek and Archbold Parks.
5. Surfboart
Get your Beyoncé on with the SurfSET fitness class at Crunch Gym in Tyson’s. Yes, it’s a drive from Tenley, but the drive is worth it—you get to surf without even getting in the water. SurfSET is amazing for your core and and a total body workout. Here’s hoping SurfSET takes off within the District.
