The cold weather has officially arrived! Nothing matches your cozy sweater and adorable mittens better than a yummy mug of hot chocolate. Here are five ways to spice up your instant mix beverages this holiday season.
Toffee Hot Cocoa
Make your hot cocoa like you normally would, but add some crumbled Heath bars and a spoonful of caramel. Imagine how good this smells. Mmmmmm.
Mayan Hot Cocoa
Start with a steaming hot mug of your instant mix cocoa. Mix in 1 teaspoon cinnamon and a pinch of cayenne pepper. Stir and enjoy your cocoa with a kick.
Mexican Hot Cocoa
Grab your favorite mug and mix together 1 tablespoon cocoa powder, 2 teaspoons dark brown sugar, ¼ teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/8 teaspoon of nutmeg. Add 1 tablespoon of boiling water and stir well. At the same time, heat 1 cup of low-fat milk over low heat. Stir in your cocoa mixture and add ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract. Share with friends and chat about life, etc.
Nutella Hot Cocoa
You read that right. Nutella. In hot chocolate. Combine 1 cup milk and 2 ½ tbsp of Nutella with a small pinch of salt. Whisk together over heat and serve hot with whipped cream and shaved chocolate. Bask in the glory of Nutella.
Gingerbread Cocoa
Combine 2/3 cup of cocoa, 2 ½ teaspoons of sugar, 1 ½ teaspoons of molasses, and pinches of cinnamon, ground cloves, nutmeg and ginger. Stir well to dissolve molasses and mix in 1/3 cup of steaming milk. Top it off with whipped cream and little extra nutmeg. Enjoy your Christmas in a cup.
