Football season at The University of Alabama is like no other time of the year. Gamedays are filled with excitement and frenzy as people spend the day tailgating and rushing to enter the stadium before kickoff. We obsess over our outfits and who we’re taking as our date because football games are the highlight of most fall weekends in Tuscaloosa.

A-Day is a scrimmage where the Tide’s 16 National Championship winning team is split between Crimson and White, meaning that fans can get a taste of what the fall football season will be like during the spring. While darties may overshadow this event, there are still plenty of reason why you should attend:

It’s free:

The A-Day game is free to attend, meaning that you and your friends can stop by for a minute on your way to darties if you don’t want to make a whole day out of it. It’s still a Crimson Tide football game, which is something that you’ll probably pay good money to watch in the fall.

You can bring people:

It’s hard getting tickets for all those people you promised to invite to games in the fall! Since it’s a free event, you can bring your parents, siblings, or friends to A-Day to experience football in Tuscaloosa. If your parents have never been to a game, this is the perfect opportunity to let them see what it is like watching the Tide in action. If your best friend from back home can’t get tickets during the season, bring her to A-Day and let her get the complete experience during her time in Tuscaloosa.

Bryant-Denny:

Bryant-Denny is one of the hallmarks of an Alabama student’s fall, and it’s hard to say good-bye for an entire semester. Go to A-Day, even if your only reason is to say hello to this old friend. Just being in the huge fishbowl of a stadium is an event on it’s own, as it reminds us of how much we really love the Tide. We all miss Bryant-Denny Stadium in the spring, so go just to experience it and sit even closer to the players than you normally would!

The Tide:

You cheer for the Tide in the fall, why not do this during the spring as well? If you’re into the mechanics of football, go to get a sneak peek of what the team looks like and what is to come in the upcoming season. You’ll be able to assure everyone you know that the Tide is definitley on the road to 17.

I am currently a freshman at the University of Alabama studying Public Relations and English. I'm minoring in Italian and global studies. I know. I love pretty much everything, but I especially love the Kardashians, french fries, and traveling. I dream about living in Florence one day and eating all the gelato I want, forever. Taylor Swift's publicist is my inspiration. Tree Paine. Look her up.
