With spring comes many wonderful things: blooming flowers, warm weather, cute clothes, and, of course, promposals! Prom has always been that classic high school dance. Movies have centered their entire plot around prom. So many people, especially girls, dream of what that perfect night will be like: what their dresses will look like, who they’ll go with, what will the dance be like, where will they eat before, and the list goes on.

But one question that has also entered into those imaginations is how they will be asked. Promposals have become extremely popular over the past few years. Extravagant signs, gifts, and even flash mobs play into being asked to prom. Girls and guys both plan meticulous proposals in order to wow their dates to score that “Yes!” to the big dance. There are so many ways someone can ask another to prom, so let’s take a look at a few.

1. The Classic Sign

You can’t go wrong with simply spelling it out. It’s a nice way to do something big without going overboard.

2. Puns

Most promposals have some sort of pun in the question, and some are quite punny…no?

Okay….

3. Food

You can NEVER go wrong with a food promposal… ever.

4. Flowers

Whether you’re giving them a bouquet or spelling it out, flowers are always a cute way to go.

5. Romantic

Romantic promposals will be certain to melt your date’s heart. These types of promposals are more for couples that are already together. A big romantic gesture could be the wrong choice if you and your soon-to-be date aren’t official yet.

6. Sporty

If your date is an athlete, a sporty promposal is a great way to ask!

7. Candy

Very similar to a food promposal, but a little more simple and less expensive

8. Gifts

In case you have some spare change lying around, you can always splurge your date with a gift; anything from a teddy bear, to balloons, to tennis shoes.

9. Nerdy

Whether its Pokémon, Harry Potter, Grey’s Anatomy, or any other kind of movie/tv-show, don’t be afraid to nerd it up!

10. Above and Beyond.

Some people decide that a simple gesture is not enough. Maybe a flash mob will do?

Whether you’re keeping it simple or going big, there are so many ways to ask someone to prom! Find something that will suit your date best. If they’re shy, a simple sign might do the trick, but if they are outgoing, you could try something bigger. Despite all the fuss about promposals, what really matters is you, your date, and prom itself. Pick someone you can have fun with and will make the night great!
