Spicing Up Your Study Habits

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Agnes Scott chapter.

Summer is approaching, but there is still so much to do. Between the end of the year activities, maintaining or improving your grades, figuring out fall semester and summer plans, and most importantly, preparing for finals! Here are some tips to spice up your studying style so that you can avoid getting burnt out before the semester ends!

  1. Change of location. It can get really hard to focus if you stay in the same place and stay there for long. Try somewhere new! New coffee houses, book stores, anywhere.
  2. Take study breaks. I like to take 30 minute study breaks every so often to catch up on my guilty pleasures (New Girl, Mindy Project, etc). It’s great to be up to speed with what you’re studying, but also little things that relax you. Otherwise you’re going to become disinterested in your work and be unable to work your most efficiently!
  3. Keep yourself fed and hydrated. It’s easy to get so caught up in your work that you forget to eat or drink anything! Try studying somewhere new or try something new on the menu! If you’re too stressed to break away to eat, pack something (the more college budget option).
  4. GO OUTSIDE! The weather is getting absolutely beautiful, so go out and enjoy it! Sunlight is said to improve your mood, so try to improve your negative “worker-bee” attitude and lighten up!
