The Top Seven Reasons to Join Her Campus

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Adelphi chapter.

Accordingly to fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg, “I travel light. I think the most important thing is to be in a good mood and enjoy life, wherever you are.” This cannot be any more true. Joining Her Campus three years was one of the best things I’ve done during my college life. Here is just a list of seven reasons why I love it and why you should join too.

  1. Awesome and funny articles to write:

There are a multiple of different articles to write. There are some articles about fashion, beauty, love, greek life, health, and so much more. There’s a topic that’ll meet everyone’s personal needs, interests, and passions.

  1. Work on becoming a better writer:

Instead of writing papers for class like this:

Through looking over your article with your editor your learn about grammar, punctuation mistakes, and more! When you write your next article or a paper in class, then you can write like this:

  1. Learn more about yourself:

With different articles or events some chapters have on campus, you learn more and more about yourself as different events, different articles you can try and write about or different roles that chapter members play. Some chapters can have a member work on social media, some may have event planners, editors and much more depending on your college chapter

  1. New members = new best friends:

When I first joined Her Campus, I was a freshmen with little to no friends just starting out at my college. I took a chance and decided to put myself out there and go to a meeting and since then I have never turned back. I’ve meet some awesome gals, and some become awesome friends and others became best friends (Like OG BFFs) and definitely helped my transition from high school to college life so much easier.

  1. Networking:

Upon meeting some of the girls in my chapter as well as other Her Campus members have similar interests and some who are the same major as I am have interned at places that are interested in majors like mine. These girls have given me advice, encouragement, and much more.

  1. College Fashion Show:

Once a year in Boston and New York, Her Campus has their annual College Fashion Show where girls from all different chapters can come together for one night and enjoy meeting new people! Girls from all different chapters shine as models on the runway!

  1. Her Conference:

Here is another chance to meet some other chapters as well as teaching girls ways to network and ways to help them find jobs in the market they want. Through networking and words of wisdom from guest speakers, collegiettes can get some insight on what jobs they may pursue as well as some interest they may have.

  1. There are at least 500 different chapters of Her Campus:

According to the Her Campus website there are at 8 countries in the world (400 in the US alone) that have chapters with strong, independent and intelligent women who are ready to take the word by storm.

These are just some of the reasons why I love Her Campus, as well as reasons why girls should join Her Campus. There are at least 400 chapters in the just the continental U.S. There are also chapters internationally. There are chapters in the U.K, Puerto Rico, Nigeria, Japan, Ireland, Finland, Canada, and Brazil, just to name a few. Look on your college campus and come join a chapter. If your college doesn’t have one than try and add a chapter to your college

Hi, I'm Kait. I am currently a senior at Adelphi University and I am a Communications Major with a concentration in Digital Media and Cinema Studies. I love writing and have written stories ever since I was a little girl. Once I graduate from Adelphi University I hope to become a screenwriter working for film or television. But until then you'll see me socializing with my friends and family, studying for the next exam, or writing my scripts in the library.
Hi, I'm Alexis! I'm a senior Communications major with a journalism concentration, and I'm an editor and campus co-coordinator for our Adelphi chapter of Her Campus! After graduating, I hope to write for news organizations that cover important social and humanitarian issues in our political sphere and in the global community. Other than writing, I enjoy reading, napping, and sightseeing. One fun fact about me is that I'm left-handed, which means I'm more likely to become President! I mainly write political content relating to the most current issues facing our country and the world.
