This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Adelphi chapter.

Q: What’s your year and major?

A: I am a junior, and I am a nursing major.

Q: What activities are you involved in school and outside school?

A: Well most of my activities are in school just because I dorm here. I am part of the Filipino cultural organization (SARAP) which has allowed me to learn a lot about my culture. This club was actually started by my room mate sophomore year, so shout out to you Janine! Surprisingly I’ve never had Filipino friends, before college with the exception of maybe four people. So it’s nice feeling like I fit somewhere.

Q: What are your hobbies?

A: Makeup. Summer of freshman year I was a free lance artist, and it was such a great form of expression. I’ve learned that with or without it people will judge you anyway. So do as you please.

FUN Fact: I use to model for a label named Barbizon when I was like 12- 13 years old.

Q: What do you love about Adelphi?

A: I love that Adelphi has a lot of support systems. I see things for breast cancer awareness, cultural awareness, and support for the LGBTQ etc. I think it’s a great thing that people speak up.

Q: What do you wish to do when you graduate? (What are your goals)

A: I want to be working as an RN, and once I’ve gotten my life together I want to travel until my passport runs out of pages.

Q: Do you have any role models?

A: One of my biggest role models is my god sister Samantha. Although she is 18, she has taught me that out of all of your senses, your sense of self is the greatest. She is extremely hard working, outspoken, and has absolutely no fear of judgement. As a kid, I was very quiet, and sometimes she’d be my voice until I learned to make my own.

FUN Fact: Some people don’t know that I am also a former hip hop dancer, but due to a health issue that got progressively worse I stopped. I’ve gotten better last year so hopefully I can get back into that.

Q: What’s your favorite place at Adelphi?

A: My favorite place would probably have to be the underground cafe.

Q: What advice would you give to incoming freshman?

A: I would tell them that it’s completely okay to be a little bit lost. Don’t expect to be 18, and know exactly what you’re doing with your whole life. College is an experience so take each day step by step.

Q: What is your favorite memory at Adelphi?

A: It would have to be SARAP winning it’s first district three event thanks to Precious!

FUN Fact: In high school, my nickname for all 4 years was Lilo, and the name still haunts me LOL.

Q: What do you think is most important in order to have a great college experience?

A: Be social. I’m still currently working on that, and I should probably take my own advice because you will never know who you meet. Opportunities are everywhere, and sometimes they can be found with a simple hello said to the right person. Aside from that you may never know how you can make a difference in someone else’s life.

Q: What do you look for in a partner?

A: Communication because with that, trust falls into place. I also like someone who has a good sense of humor and ambition.

Q: What would be the perfect date?

A: I’m in between simple and adventurous. I can lay out on a beach or go skydiving. So I’m pretty versatile when it comes to dates.

Q: Single or taken?

A: Happily taken.

Hi I'm Liz!! I'm currently a sophomore at Adelphi University and I study communications. I strive to become a journalist or a news reporter someday. Besides being a contributor for HerCampus and studying communications, I have a passion for martial arts and criminal justice. I also love babysitting so I obviously love kids and something I may also do is become a teacher. One fun fact about me is that  I have been studying Ju Jitsu for the past 12 or 13 years and I am currently a second degree brown belt.
