7 Budget-Friendly Spring Break Destinations

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Adelphi chapter.

I am one of those people in a family that never, and I mean never, travels. Looking at instagram over school vactions is gut wrenching. All your classmates traveling and doing fun stuff over break while you’re in your bed crying over some show you found on Netflix.

If you’re like me and in desperate need of something to do next week, but dont exaclty have the green to get yourself a plane ticket outta here, I may have found some solutions to our dilemma. Why be so quick to leave Long Island? There’s plenty to do here. I mean, we are technically an “island”… even though we don’t have palm trees, lots of sun, and crystal clear waters…there’s some hidden (budget friendly) places worth your visit!

So get in your car loser.

Just don’t go shopping…that could defeat the purpose of a “budget friendly” vacation.

1. Old Westbury Gardens

Located on Old Westbur Rd in Westbury, the gardens are a former estate which belonged to the heir to the U.S. Steel Fortune. It only costs $12.00 to tour the gardens and houses. There’s picnics, events, and cafes located throughtout!

2. Long Island Canoe and Kyack Rentals

Located on East Main Street in Riverhead, Treasure Cove Resort Marina sits right on the Peconic River.

For one hour, a single kyack rental is only $20!

Visit: http://www.longislandcanoekayakrentals.com/ for more information!

3. Monster Mini Golf

Unleash your child side!

Monster Mini Golf is an 18-hole glow in the dark mini golf course with a monster theme. Attractions include mini golf,  arcade room, and an in-house DJ!

4. Archery

Even though you may not be preparing for the next Hunger Games, C&B Archery is another spot right on the island for possible spring break adventures. Right in Hicksville and only costing $9 for one hour!

Visit: http://cbarchery.net/

5. Diner By The Sea

Located in Long Beach, Diner By The Sea, is famous for their rainbow array of food choices. From milkshakes to pancakes, you can tie-die just about everything. Instead of eating popcorn while binge watching a show, get up and go to eat some real food! Grab some friends and enjoy a milkshake. The diner is located right near the long beach boardwalk!

6. Port Washington Harbor Tours

It’s no real cruise, but you can make believe you’re sailing to some sunny destination on a harbor cruise! Some of them offer dinner cruises into New York City for a view of the skyline and a visit to lady liberty!

Visit: http://www.portwatertaxi.com/

7. Adventureland

Look at is as a mini Six Flags.

Adventureland is located in Farmingdale and features all our favorite parts of an amusement park, the swings, arcade, and pirate ship. Check groupon for ticketdeals!
