Starbucks is known for selling the coffee that everyone either loves to drink or loves to scoff at. However, it looks like many Starbucks lovers might be switching to the other side (Independent coffee shops? Home espresso maker?) after news surfaced that the company has its baristas underfilling our favorite drinks.
According to Eater, Siera Strumlauf and Benjamin Robles filed the lawsuit after it became known that the line to which baristas are instructed to fill their pitchers with steamed milk results in individual lattes being underfilled—specifically, by 25 percent.
While Starbucks claims that the recipe for their lattes is made with this in mind, Refinery 29 points out, “The plaintiffs believe that if you order a 16-ounce drink, you should get 16 ounces of liquid,” which seems pretty logical.
Be sure to search through your receipts, collegiettes, because, if this class-action lawsuit gets far enough, Starbucks could owe all latte-buyers for the steamed milk they skimped on.
