2 RushTok Stars On Sorority Rankings & How They Played Into Their Rush Process

The time has finally come — sorority rush season is back and already making waves on social media, taking over FYPs with new sorority members and their experiences. #RushTok first went viral in 2021 when PNMs (potential new members) at the University of Alabama (one of the biggest in the game when it comes to sorority rushing) shared their journeys on TikTok, giving followers their OOTDs and day-in-the-lifes through the recruitment process. When it comes to joining Greek life, there are websites that divulge sorority rankings at each school for PNMs to use as a guide. But this rush season, it seems that sorority ranking systems aren’t actually a part of the rush process for many PNMs.

Ava LeBlanc, a 2023 RushTok star from Auburn University, captured the hearts of thousands with her consistent OOTDs in her adorably aesthetic dorm room and her contagious smile. Her followers had high hopes that she’d get a bid into a sorority sisterhood, and LeBlanc found her home at Alpha Gamma Delta and shared the sweetest TikTok of her Bid Day experience.

When it comes to sorority rankings, LeBlanc tells Her Campus rankings were not on her mind at all. “I did not look at sorority rankings. In fact, I’m not sure that really exists,” she says. “I went in with an open mind and really just wanted to find a home with like-minded girls that were focused on education, goals, and friendship.” LeBlanc elaborates that there is no such thing as a “bad” sorority. She says, “There are 18 sororities at Auburn and none of them are bad! You just have to find the one that’s best for YOU!”

Another creator who took over Bama Rush TikTok is Bama Morgan, who went viral this season when she was unfortunately dropped from all sororities during rush. Morgan, a first-generation college student, tells Her Campus that Greek life was a new experience for her, for she had never met anyone who was involved in sorority life. When it came to the idea of sorority rankings, she didn’t use them, and in fact, she had her own system of ranking. “When I determined which houses I was gonna go for, I used the Greek acronyms,” she says. “One of them was OK and then the other one was OMG, so that was how I built my list.”

At the end of the day, Morgan said she mostly kept an open mind. “I was open to any house,” she says. “I really just wanted a house and I really didn’t mind where.” Morgan started rushing without knowing much about which organizations were favored. “I didn’t even know which houses were really popular until after midway through the process. So that was definitely interesting.”

Whether you do or don’t get into the most popular sororities on campus, it’s clear that rankings aren’t much of a factor in the rush process. It’s more important to find a safe space to celebrate sisterhood and make lifelong friends. So, if you’re considering joining Greek life, focus on the opportunities and connections you make —  the sorority that’s meant to be yours will always find its way.
