10 Asian-Owned Sustainable Businesses to Support

As someone who is part Chinese, I firmly believe it’s always the perfect time to support and celebrate Asian-owned businesses. I was recently excited to discover that so many Asian-owned brands I know and love are also sustainable, with eco-conscious products and practices that are amazing for us and the planet! In celebration of Earth Day, I’ve compiled a list of ten amazing AAPI-owned businesses (note: primarily East Asian) that you can support right now.

Everybody And Everyone

Founder Veronica Chou wanted to create clothes that make life easier and good for the planet, and Everybody and Everyone was born! The brand provides beautifully designed essentials made with environmentally friendly materials, plus they partner with manufacturers that use solar power, conserve electricity, reduce water usage, and more. The best part? The brand is size-inclusive, carrying US sizes 00-24.

This brand is a Her Campus favorite! Baggu makes reusable bags, masks, and everyday essentials that are adorable and feature the cutest prints. Their designs use sustainable materials, are made to minimize waste, and the brand is committed to ethical and environmentally responsible practices. Baggu even has cases to protect your phone and laptop, and their lightweight totes are built to hold 2-3 times as much as disposable grocery bags.

You must try cocokind if you love stocking your beauty cabinet with clean and conscious skincare. Their products are nourishing, cruelty-free, and are totally free of artificial fragrances, with great organic options as well. I love that cocokind is super transparent about their ingredients and impact, so you can make informed decisions when shopping for skincare.

Street Grandma

TBH, I’m obsessed with the whole vibe of Street Grandma. Not only does the brand’s name instantly make you want to smile (their motto is “designing pieces to keep ‘til we’re old” — come on!), but their products are made with organic and recycled materials. I’m convinced that their IG page will brighten your day, especially this photo featuring their “Retiree” hoodie. Big mood.

If you love sleek, minimalist accessories without the luxury markup, you’ll love Linjer, an Asian-owned brand that focuses on sustainability as one of its core values. Co-founded by Jennifer Chong and Roman Khan, the brand selects eco-friendly, long-lasting materials for its unique jewelry, handbags, and watches. I love that they’re committed to quality products and caring for the planet, making them an awesome brand to support this Earth Day.

Co-founder and CEO Sarah Paiji Yoo started Blueland after becoming a new mom and realizing the harmful effects of plastic on our environment and water supply. She founded Blueland with the belief that you shouldn’t have to sacrifice a clean home for a clean planet. Now, Blueland makes innovative, eco-friendly products with reusable packaging to help make the Earth a cleaner, better place.

How wild is it that 20 billion non-recyclable toothpaste tubes are made every single year?! Driven to help the environment, David Phan and Cathy Tran co-founded Huppy, a brand whose mission is to make way for more sustainable smiles with their natural, zero-waste, sustainable toothpaste tablets. I love that this is a small, but impactful way to be kinder to the planet, and a product I never would’ve thought to swap in my daily routine.

Drifter Organics

This organic, vegan skincare line is every beauty lover’s dream. Drift Organics makes nourishing body butter, body oil, and soap that are gentle, all-natural, non-toxic, and made with care. I appreciate how their products are clean and super affordable, so you don’t have to break the bank to make your beauty routine more sustainable. Also, co-founders Micaela and Dawn-Marie Hoo are the cutest mother-daughter duo of all time, and I can’t get enough of their story.

All I want in life is to buy every candle I see, and I can’t wait to shop at Sạch for my next batch. Sạch (which means “clean” in Vietnamese) is a Vietnamese-American-owned company that makes eco-conscious candles inspired by heritage and personal experiences. You can choose from dreamy aromas like Altar, which features grapefruit and cherry blossom, or Tâm, which was inspired by co-founder Trâm’s dad, who would cut her apple slices every morning before school.

Founded by Erica Choi, SUPEREGG is a vegan egg that powers your skin’s well-being. Through 100% vegan ingredients, the plant-based egg helps restore and balance your skin for a smooth, radiant complexion. I love how this creative beauty product is inspired by ancient beauty rituals that date back to 600 B.C. China. The brand is also clean, vegan, cruelty-free, and dedicated to creating a more sustainable future for all.

When it comes to being kinder to the planet, I believe that a little goes a long way. A simple way to start implementing changes is to shop for sustainable products and support brands that are also committed to being more eco-friendly! These Asian-owned businesses are everything, and I can’t wait to hit “add to cart” and know that I’ll be kinder to the planet in the process.
