Lose the Freshman 15: Healthy Eating On-the-Go

This is a sponsored feature. All opinions are 100% from Her Campus.

Hi collegiettes™!

As you may remember, this week I will be in the beautiful San Diego for spring break. Jealous right?

However, just because it’s spring break doesn’t mean I’m taking a break from my diet and fitness for the Jump Start Diet. I have every intention of continuing my guy-like mindset and progressing in my journey to shed my freshman 15. airport

This morning I was nervous for my weigh-in considering last week’s disappointment, but I’m more than happy to share with you all that I lost the two pounds plus an extra two, which brings my total weight loss to date to 11 pounds, making my current weight 134 lbs. I’m looking and feeling better than ever–all the more motivation to keep it going extra during my week of much need rest and relaxation!

This morning I was having a hard time leaving my laptop behind sending out last-minute emails and printing off my class notes and readings for my plane ride to California. My morning rush to get things together before I took off left me frazzled… and hungry. I completely forgot to eat! Who does that?

Luckily, I had some (in fact, three hours) time to grab a bite at the airport. I found myself at a bar scouring the menu for something quick, cheap and healthy that was similar to a meal option from SELF‘s diet. I needed something fat-melting and filling for that awful direct flight from Maryland to California (never, ever again). photo 1

I was successful! One of the meals on the Jump Start Diet is a soup and sammy– 1 cup of low-sodium tomato soup with a sandwich (turkey breast, 2 slices tomato, 1 cheddar slice, lettuce and mustard) on wheat bread. I ordered Maryland crab soup (Fact: Maryland has the best crabs) and a half of a turkey sandwich since I was trying to play it safe since I wasn’t 100% sure of my lunch calorie intake. I checked online and luckily, I was able to stay under my 450 cal. max with a total of 320 cal. total for lunch!
